Ulysses

author
James Joyce

the spiel
A day in the life of two characters: Stephen Dedalus and Leopold Bloom. Joyce places the reader fully into his characters minds, and you are privy to their thoughts, feelings, and memories, as well as their experiences. It has been called all sorts of nasty things, including, emetic (by Judge John M. Woosley in 1933). It has also, however, been hailed as a literary masterpiece which aptly portrays the vast variety of human experience. One thing is inarguable: Joyce's command of language is vast and powerful. As for the rest, you be the judge.
